Start your trek well-rested and take enough time to acclimatize, as the trail reaches high altitude. Carry good trekking shoes with proper grip, warm layers, rain protection, a headlamp, water bottle and basic medicines. Keep your backpack as light as possible and stay hydrated throughout the trek. The weather in the Gangotri Himalayas can change quickly, so be prepared for cold, wind and rain even when the weather looks clear. Walk at a comfortable pace and avoid rushing, especially on the higher sections toward Tapovan.
